Social media: Facebook for business
Written on the 8 January 2013 by Snap Marketing
There are over one billion people commenting an average of 3.2 billion times every single day on Facebook. Its arguably the biggest, most powerful social media site in the world.
Having a Facebook page for your business is about more than just collecting fans. It allows you to build a community of people who love your brand and want to stay in the know. It can also help you find new clients through friend referrals, shares and advertisements while also helping to boost your Google ranking.
All you need to set up your Facebook page is some basic information about your business, a profile picture (180 x 180 pixels) and a cover image (851 x 315 pixels). Think carefully about your page name because, once you have 200 likes, it can be difficult to change. You may also like to write some guidelines that clearly communicate to your friends what is and is not grounds for comment deletion. This may simply be a comment stating that all spam and/or offensive language will be deleted from this page.
Do's and don'ts of getting noticedDO add share and like buttons to your website
The Facebooks developers page allows you to quickly and simply get a code to install a like button on your websites homepage. Share buttons on individual listings give clients a chance to share their favourite items.DON'T be dull
Aim to be conversational, fun and engaging. Inject a little humour from time to time and change it up with pictures, videos, links and questions.DO spend wisely
When spending on advertisements or promoted posts, take time to ensure your ads and posts are going to your target market so your likes are valuable.DON'T delete all negative comments
Spam, abuse and posts containing swear words should be deleted, especially if you have a posting policy in place, but its crucial to respond sincerely to genuine comments and enquiries. Ignoring and deleting client qualms is only likely to inflame them.DO use Facebook Insights
Facebook has a great Insights function that clearly shows the demographics of your likes, highlights which posts have been the most popular and identifies which applications are being viewed. Use it!DON'T ignore the rules
Follow Facebooks page guidelines, especially when youre running promotions. Otherwise you run the risk of having your page deleted.
