Community's gift to help babies

Written on the 31 March 2015

Snap Dandenong South owners Sue and Ian Mackie held a high tea to raise money for Monash Children's Hospital, Dandenong.

The Dandenong Special Care Nursery will receive two neonatal resuscitation trolleys thanks to the goodwill of local businesses.

The event was held at Dandenong Basketball Stadium, and Cafe C'est La Vie donated the catering. Ninety people attended on October 4 and contributed more than $ 5400 for the trolleys. Last week, Ms Mackie visited the nursery, which caters for sick and premature babies and said she was overjoyed to be able to contribute to such an important cause.

"We wanted to do something for the community," she said. "It was really good, because we know that it's actually going to something that they need and it's going to help babies."

"We had a really good response and we've decided to do (it again next year)."

Special Care Nursery unit manager Tracey Clark said the staff were thrilled. "We are so grateful for this (very) generous donation that will help us improve the care to some of our most vulnerable patients," she said.
