Gaining online recognition is an important factor to your business's success. See below 4 tips to better visibility online:
1. Use keywords
A keyword is a common word or phrase that your target audience type into a search engine to find relevant information. For example, if you're a lawn mowing company in Sydney and a potential customer is looking for this service, they might type 'lawn mowing Sydney' into a search engine. If your site is optimised for search engines, your business should show up in search results. So, as part of your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) strategy, make it a goal to sprinkle a handful of keywords throughout any text on your website. Just don't go overboard or search engines like Google will penalise you.
2. Email marketing
Collect email addresses from potential and current customers so that you can send regular e-newsletters to their inbox. This is great for informing them of new products, exclusive deals and incentives. Ultimately, this works because you're bringing them back to your website and potentially increasing your sales. Your traffic will also increase, which search engines will favour.
3. Use listings
Take advantage of free listings. Add your business website URL to Open Directory sites like Dmoz. You can also buy links from search engines and directories. Don't only rely solely on Google, because other search engines such as MSN, Yahoo!7 and AltaVista exist, too.
4. Meta tags
A meta tag is a line of HTML coding that contains information about a specific web page (for example, location) to help search engines categorise them properly. Exercise your HTML-savvy skills and ensure your meta tag descriptions are unique for every webpage of your business site. Never duplicate descriptions and page titles because it will impact on your SEO. You will perform better in search engines if your descriptions and titles are unique.
Don't struggle to get your site noticed. Implement these simple strategies and you're giving your website a fighting chance to better hit your target audience, receive higher amounts of traffic, improve your search engine rankings and grow your business.
