Adding shipping to your Shopping Cart orders

Unless all the products in your Shopping Cart inventory are downloadable products, chances are you'll have to add shipping costs to your Shopping Cart. There are two parts to creating new Shipping options. The first is to create the Zone (geographically) that this Shipping option is available to, then you need to choose the methods people can use to have their goods shipped by in this zone. This article will take you through both steps.

To add shipping options:

  1. Click on the Shop Settings tab when you are logged into your Website account.
  2. Click on the Shipping tab.
  3. Click the Add a Shipping Zone button.
  4. Type in the Zone Name. This is for your reference only. It may be something like "Australia" or "Queensland."
  5. Check the Enabled box to allow people to choose this shipping option. You may need to temporarily remove that shipping option, in which case you would untick this box.
  6. Zone Scope allows you to choose the zone this shipping is relevant to. When you make your selection, is it important that you make another selection in the boxes that will appear. For instance, if you choose Country, you will then need to choose which Country this Shipping Zone applies to, otherwise your online customers will get a message saying that you do not ship to their area.
  7. Click the Save button.
  8. Select Add a shipping method.
  9. In Method Name, type in the method name for you and your customer's reference. It may be "Australia Post (Express)", or "Pick Up From Local Depot."
  10. In Description, give any more detail regarding this delivery method, such as "2-3 Days" or "Call Us to Find your nearest depot."
  11. For Enabled, select Yes to allow people to choose this shipping method. You may need to temporarily remove that shipping method, in which case you would select No.
  12. For Disable Tax, select Yes if you want to disable tax for this shipping method, otherwise select No.
  13. For Handling Cost Type, select Amount for a fixed price or Percent for a percentage of the shipping cost and then enter a figure.

  15. For Allow Product Based Shipping, select Yes and then choose an option to Restrict shipping method by, otherwise select No.
  16. From the drop down menu, choose the Method Type. Depending on the method type you choose, you may need to enter in more information:
