Google Analytics for business
Written on the 24 January 2013 by Snap Marketing
If you've always wondered how many people actually visit your website in a day, or what country the majority of your users are from, which pages they like or how long they visit for, Google Analytics could be just what your business needs to analyse, amend and improve.
What is it?
How do I set it up?
You will need to have a Google email account to access Analytics, so either register for one or log in with your existing business account. From there, visit the Google Analytics page and click on Access Analytics. Select the Sign Up button to create a new account for your website by entering the Account Name, your website URL and the primary time zone that the business operates in.
How it works
As well as offering overall statistics about the number of visitors to the site, Google Analytics also tracks information about the visitors. This is ideal for your business as you will be able to learn details such as where the visitors are being referred from and which search engines or advertising methods are effective in directing clicks to your site. Google Analytics also monitors conversions, which relate to the number of people who visit your landing page and proceed to other pages within the site.
Why you should
Once set up, it is likely that the Google Analytics Dashboard (which shows you information about your site such as traffic, uses and sources of visitors) will become an integral part of your day-to-day business. As a free service, the information provided can help direct marketing strategies, save costly advertising bills and ensure that your business is kept in close contact with an honest representation of clients preferences online.
